Join us in our cosy corner of the internet to make new connections, start conversations, share helpful information, arrange or find out about meet ups and more! Anyone who self-identifies as estranged or care experienced, in higher education in the UK can sign up. In Spring 2026, following student feedback from our community, we have made the decision to begin a move across to Discord as it is a more familiar and user-friendly platform.

We are winding down Mighty Networks, and will likely close it at the end of May 2026.

Is this the community for you?

This is a community for anyone who self-identifies as estranged or care experienced, in higher education in the UK.

The term care-experienced refers to anyone who has been or is currently in care or from a looked-after background at any stage in their life, no matter how short, and this includes those who have been in kinship care arrangements and adoptees who were previously in foster care/looked after. Generally, estrangement means you have little or no contact with your parents (either biological, step or adoptive) and this is unlikely to change.

There is no upper age limit in our community, but there is a lower age limit: students must be over 18 (NI, Wales and England) and over 17 (Scotland, legal adult). School students and those not yet in Higher Education must wait until starting their courses to join us. This keeps it a safe environment for HE students and ensures that this remains an adult-only space.
